Ekiti NUJ Correspondent chapel elects new executives

Members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NIJ) Correspondent Chapel, Ekiti State has elected new members to run the affairs of the chapel for the next three years.
The election which was monitored by the Chairman of the NUJ, Ekiti State Council and Secretary, Comrades Rotimi Ojomoyela and Kayode Babatuyi respectively.
Those elected are, Mr Raphael Ogbonaiye of Daily Trust Newspaper as Chairman, Victor Akinkuolie of Hope Newspaper as Secretary and Alo Abiola of the leadership Newspaper, as treasurer.
Shortly before the conduct of the election, the Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Alhaji Yaqub Popoola, called for the dissolution of the former executive members of the chapel.
The motion was moved by Mrs Adewumi Ademiju of the New Telegraph Newspapers and seconded by Mr Dayo Oladele of the Blueprint Newspapers.
In his acceptance speech by the newly elected Chairman, Mr Raphael Ogbonaiye, promised to prioritize the welfare of members and project the good image of the chapel and Ekiti State in general.
He equally promised to cooperate with other members of the executives in a bid to influence more progress and development to the chapel.
Earlier, the Chairman NUJ Ekiti State council, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela, described the peaceful conduct of the exercise as a result of the unity of purpose that exist between members of the chapel.
While congratulating the new executive members, the Ekiti NUJ scribe emphasized the needs for more cooperation between members, noting that the move would further bring more progress to the chapel.
The highpoint of the exercise held at the office of the chapel located at Old Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti was the administering of oath of allegiance on the new members by the Secretary of the council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi.
