A former Local Government Chairman and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Woman Leader in Ekiti state, Hon (Mrs) Folasade Akinrinmola has congratulated, Amanda Azubuike on her historic promotion to Brigadier General in the United States Army.
In a statement she personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the former PDP Women Leader lauded Azubuike’s remarkable achievement as a testament to her dedication, resilience, and exceptional service.
Akinrinmola added that Azubuike elevation would serve as morale booster that Nigerian women can reach any height in their chosen careers if given the right opportunity.
Born in London to a Nigerian father and a Zimbabwean mother, Azubuike’s journey is a source of pride for Nigerians worldwide.
She joined the U.S. Army in 1994, becoming an aviator after completing the Army Aviation Officer Basic Course. Over her distinguished career, she has held pivotal roles, including serving as a platoon leader, flight operations officer, and public affairs officer. She currently serves as Deputy Commanding Officer at the U.S. Army Cadet Command.
Akinrinmola said: “Amanda’s elevation to Brigadier General is not only a testament to the resilience of Nigerian women, it is also a morale booster to young women who want to develop careers.”
She urged Nigerian women home and abroad to draw inspiration from Azubuike’s excellent achievement to reject second fiddle roles and fight for a place of reckoning in their respective endeavours.
