Minimum wage: Organised Labour rules out fresh strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has said they won’t embark on any strike action starting Tuesday to demand a new national minimum wage.

NLC President Joe Ajaero made this known during a press conference on Monday.

According to Ajaero, the figures the Tripartite Committee came up with are currently with President Bola Tinubu.

He noted that the N62,000 proposed by the government does not translate to labour accepting it as the new minimum wage.

“We cannot declare strike now because the figures are with the President. We will wait for the President’s decision.

“During the tenure of the immediate past president, the figure that was proposed to him was N27,000 by the tripartite committee but he increased it to N30,000. We are hopeful that this president will do the right thing,” Ajaero said. {Daily Post}
