The former Minority Leader in the Senate, Senator Abiodun Olujimi has condemned the Monday gruesome murder of two Ekiti monarchs and abduction of school pupils.

The two traditional rulers- the Onimojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola and the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola were killed in an ambush by armed men while returning from a meeting. The third traditional ruler, the Alara of Ara –Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba escaped the attack.

Similarly, six pupils, three teachers and a driver of a private Nursery and Primary school in Emure Ekiti were abducted on Monday.

In a statement she personally signed and made available to newsmen yesterday, Olujimi said that the killing of monarchs and the abduction of school pupils called for urgent rejigging of the state security architecture.

She said: “We are all in silent prayers. Those innocent children must return by God’s grace. They are so fragile!!! May God sustain them. The time has come for multi sectoral collaboration on the issue of security.

“Government has to be more proactive and comb our forests so there’s no hiding place for miscreants. We must engage amotekun, civil defence, police, army etc in the upgrade of our security architecture.

“The people must be on alert and mobilised for intelligence gathering. The economy must be improved. Our traditional rulers and local government councils must work seamlessly together to stem this situation.

“Above all, we must all be ready to assist our neighbours and our State. We are all endangered by these ugly trend,” she said.
