A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has saluted the Christain and Muslim adherents in Ekiti State for their peaceful coexistence and maintenance of religious tolerance.

Bamisile said the exhibition of unity between the two frontline religions in the State, has been a stabilizing factor and enabler of good governance being savoured under Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.

The Federal lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, felicitated with the Christians and Muslims for experiencing another Lenten and Ramadan seasons, charging them to pray for sustainable peace and unity in the state to propel development across the spheres of the economy.

Bamisile, the Chairman, House Committee on Delegated Legislation, said these in a statement in Abuja, on Thursday and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital.

Particularly, he rejoiced with Christians and Muslims for witnessing another season of holiness as typified by the Lenten and Ramadan fasting, urging that this should reflect in their lives to bring Godliness and personal rebranding that can help the Nigerian nation.

Bamisile urged the adherents of the two religions to allow the lessons of piety, sacrifice, holiness,honesty, integrity and spirit of be your brother’s keeper entrenched in the holy fasting reflect in their daily lives, by shunning corruption and religious fanaticism that can stoke the ember of discord and violence.

Harping on the expediency of unity and peace to bring about national rebirth and requisite economic renaissance, the lawmaker charged Nigerians to support the Government at all levels through unceasing prayers and making the right sacrifices that can solidify friendship across ethnic lines.

Bamisile showered encomiums on Islamic and Christain leaders operating in Ekiti State for their unflagging backing for Governor Oyebanji and for the invincible cord of unity that has existed between them, thereby helping in stabilising governance for the benefit of all residents.

“It is trite that no nation can grow or develop while experience internal crisis and upheaval. I salute the Christain and Muslim leaders in Ekiti State for their bond of unity and support for the current Governor.

“There hadn’t been any serious and fatal case of religious crisis between the two frontline religions since the advent of democracy in 1999. This is commendable.

“Most interesting is their support they have given to the government to the extent of coming out overtly to endorse Governor Oyebanji for second term , not for material gains, but for the good works they have seen and experienced to continue unabated.

“As they enter a new season of fasting, I want them to ruminate on the significance of these seasons and allow it to manifest in their lives by being honest in whatever assignment they are saddled with. This remains the best way to have a country we can all be proud of.

“I rejoice with our religious leaders and their followers all over the state for witnessing another Lenten and Ramadan seasons. May the God give us the required strength to witness the end of these holy seasons and emerge from them stronger and better as citizens”.
