Oyebanji sets up committee on minimum wage, begins negotiation with workers

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Abiodun Oyebanji has raised a 13- member negotiation committee as the state government kickstart meetings with organised labour preparatory to the implementation of the minimum wage payment in the state.

A statement in Ado Ekiti by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode, said the decision to set up committee was sequel to the signing of the minimum wage law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on July 30th, 2024.

According to Oyebode, the negotiation committee comprises of Government Officials and leadership of the organised labour in the state.

The Members of the Negotiation Committee comprising government officials: Dr (Mrs) Folakemi Olomojobi – Head of Service ( Chairman ), Mr Akintunde Oyebode – Commissioner for Finance- Member ⁠Comrade K. Faromiluyi – Special Advisor on Labour Matter – Member, Mrs Titilayo Olayinka – Accountant General / PS – Member.

Others are: ⁠Mr Bamise Sunday Julius – PS Ministry of Justice – Member, Mr Oluwadare Jolumo- PS Ministry of Finance – Member and Mrs Janet Ajibola – PS Office of Establishment and Service Matters – Secretary.

Those from the Organised Labour are: Comrade Olufemi Ajoloko- Chairman, Joint Negotiation Council, Comrade Olatunde Kolapo – Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, ⁠Comrade Sola Adigun – Chairman, Trade Union Congress.

Others are: Comrade Yetunde Emmanuel- Secretary, Joint Negotiation Council, Comrade Dr. Israel Taiwo- Secretary, Nigeria Labour Council and Comrade Yemi Peters- Secretary, Trade Union Congress.

The statement added that the first meeting of the committee is slated for Wednesday, September 4th, 2024.
