Residents of Birnin Magaji community in Zamfara State have resorted to unconventional measures to combat the incessant attacks by terrorists in their community, by taking hostage the wives of terrorists in retaliation for abducted farmers.

the residents of the community were said to have intercepted the wives of terrorists, including a pregnant woman, as they were returning to their hideouts.

A youth leader from Birnin Magaji, who spoke to PRNigeria, confirmed the community’s actions. He explained that this drastic step was taken in response to the relentless assaults by terrorists on their community.

“The bandits invaded the farm and threatened the farmers before they took them away. These days, many people here cannot go to the farm, and even in our homes, we are afraid they could come and abduct us for ransom.”

The situation in Zamfara has seen a surge in terrorist activities, with the recent kidnapping of at least 80 children in the Tsafe Local Government Area drawing national attention. This incident served as a stark reminder of the looming threat that these criminal elements pose to the region.

In another development, the Nigerian security forces initiated a search operation for eight kidnapped National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Zamfara State.

These corps members, on their way from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to Sokoto State for their one-year national service, had their journey interrupted by terrorists.
