President Bola Tinubu on Monday announced that the period of industrial activities in the country’s educational system had ended, saying that the Students Loans Scheme of his administration would start in January 2024.
The President disclosed this at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja during the 29th annual Nigerian Economic Summit, which was organized by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).
“The new Students Loan Program is to start by January 2024. We are saying no more strikes for the sake of our kids’ and students’ futures.
“There must be consumer credit, scheme will have to come to effect as soon as possible. I thank my team and my colleagues to build this programme, develop it now. We cannot talk about anti-corruption when you have to look for cash to buy a car, when there’s no mortgage for homeownership”, he said.
