FUOYE again alerts public on cloned VC’s social media accounts

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has again alerted members of the public to a faked social media accounts of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, saying that this time the impostors have stepped up their game.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on media matters, Wole Balogun, the VC said there are currently attempts by the internet fraudstars to defraud members of the public through some social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp and specifically chats and Voice notes via WhatsApp.

The statement reads in part: “ Members of the public and the FUOYE community are hereby warned to beware of internet fraudsters faking the VC’s identity via some social media platforms.
The evil doers have stepped up their game of deceit and fraud. They now send voice notes to their target victims via WhatsApp platforms which they have faked to appear as that of VC’s.

“They also give addresses of some offices outside the University’s premises where such victims could meet them up for some business transactions.

“They are aware of some official activities on going on campus and they use this information to trap their victims and swindle them.

“ We therefore wish to reiterate that the VC of FUOYE does not transact official business with anyone on social media as there are official channels tor such transactions which are mainly through direct physical contacts at the office of the VC on the main campus in Oye-Ekiti in Oye Local Government area of Ekiti State. “
