The traditional council of elders of Ijero community in Omuo-Ekiti, under the auspices of Ajero-in-Council, led by High Chief Joseph Sunday Jayeoba has concluded arrangements to fill vacant chieftaincy stools in the community’s traditional councils
The chieftaincy stool involve kindred or clan Heads, beaded Chiefs of Ijoye, Elegbe and Alajes as nominated by concerned families.
The Odofin of Ijero Chief Benjamin Olanipekun made this known Wednesday at the end of the meeting of stakeholders on chieftaincy matters convened by Ajero-in-Council.
Chief Odofin explained that the Ajero-in-Council had to convene the gathering in order to take decisive action to tackle the knotty issue since some of the stools bothering on kindred or clan head as well as the issues of beaded Chiefs across the families had been vacant for over 10 years.
He said, “it was for that reason that the Ajero-in-Council invited stakeholders from concerned families, including the Elerebis, the Egbegumetas, representatives of the Elegbes for a stakeholders meeting.
“The essence of the meeting was to rectify, and take care of certain matters that have arisen from the nominations for the Chieftaincy stools in the community. Recall that we intended to fill vacancies in the kindred or clan Heads as well as the beaded Chiefs in some clans, where there are various vacant stools; people have been acting in those positions and some for up to 15 years and that is not good enough.”
Having concluded the process, the installation of the chieftaincy nominees has been scheduled to hold at the Ajero Square, Alale Royal layout, Ijero Community, Omuo in Ekiti East LGA, on the 27th day of December, 2024 at 7:00 hrs.
