An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, sentenced a 40-year-old man, Yusuf Muhammed, to six months imprisonment for conversion of fund and breach of peace.
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, sentenced the convict after pleading guilty to the first count charge on conversion of fund, while he pleaded not guilty to second count charge on breach of peace.
She, however, sentenced the convict to six months imprisonment or to pay the sum of N240,000 to the complainant.
The convict, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conversion of fund and breach of peace.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, had told the court that the convict committed the offence sometimes in the month of November, 2025 at Lekeleke Area in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that Muhammed sold some provision items worth N240,000 and converted the money into his personal use, property of one Isia Abdullahi.
Apata added that the convict also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.
He told the court that the complainant gave his provision store to the his friend, the convict to look after for him, while he traveled, saying when he came back, the convict did not remit the money to him.
According to him, the offence contravene Section 295 and Punishable under Section 302 and Section 181(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
