Alleged political harassment of the Ekiti-West LCDA Chairman, police arrests three suspects

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged conspiracy, abduction and assault of Ikere-West LCDA Chairman, Rufus Ige Olorunfemi and one Funso Ajayi by some suspected hoodlums.

According to the police spokesman Abutu Sunday, oreliminary investigation revealed that on 3rd June, 2026 at about 21:00hrs, three Hilux vehicles loaded with armed men in camouflage Uniform allegedly accosted the LCDA Chairman along Anoye Street, Ikere-Ekiti, and one Funso Ajayi, whisked them away to the compound of the forthcoming June 20 gubernatorial Candidate of the People Democratic Party(PDP), Dr Wole Oluyede, where there were seriously assaulted before setting them free.

Three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident and are currently being investigated, while effort is ongoing to arrest others who are presently at large. They will be charged to court immediately after the investigation is concluded.

The CP, while calling for calm as he pledged that no stone will be left unturned on the incident, warns citizens especially political party loyalists against taking laws into their hands and inciting violence in the society.

The Command will continue to ensure safety and justice for all, fairness and rule of law, professionalism and respect for the rights of all citizens.
