The commissioner for Information Mr Taiwo Olatunbosun has said that declaration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as the winner of the Ekiti State Governorship Election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is a resounding affirmation of the confidence and trust the people of Ekiti State have reposed in his leadership.
Olatunbosun who spoke in a statement on Sunday in Ado Ekiti, noted that beyond securing a renewed mandate, Governor Oyebanji has also made history as the first governor of Ekiti State to win re-election while in office, a remarkable achievement that underscores the widespread acceptance of his administration and its developmental agenda.
The outcome of the election is a clear endorsement of Governor Oyebanji’s remarkable performance in office, his inclusive style of governance, and his unwavering commitment to the development, peace and prosperity of our dear state.
The overwhelming victory recorded across the sixteen local government areas demonstrates that Ekiti people have chosen continuity, stability, unity and accelerated development. It is a testament to the enduring bond between the Governor and the people, as well as a validation of the administration’s people-centred policies and programmes.
This victory belongs first and foremost to the good people of Ekiti State who came out in large numbers to reaffirm their faith in Governor Oyebanji’s administration. Their votes have once again demonstrated that good governance, humility, accessibility and service to the people remain the strongest credentials in politics.
On behalf of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, I express sincere appreciation to every voter, every supporter and every stakeholder who contributed in one way or another to this historic victory.
I also express profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), APC governors, members of the National Assembly, party leaders and stakeholders at all levels for their support, encouragement and solidarity throughout the campaign.
I equally acknowledge and appreciate the invaluable support and endorsements received from former governors of Ekiti State across political divides, elder statesmen, traditional rulers, professional associations, artisans, market groups, community leaders, religious leaders, civil society organisations and numerous interest groups whose confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s leadership further reinforced the broad-based acceptance of his administration.
I must particularly commend the Director-General and members of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council for their commitment, sacrifice, hard work and unity of purpose, which contributed immensely to the success of the campaign.
Special appreciation goes to members of the various directorates, local government and ward campaign teams, support groups, youth and women organisations, community leaders, labour leaders, workers, professionals, artisans, market men and women, as well as the thousands of volunteers whose unwavering dedication, hard work and commitment contributed immensely to the success of our party at the polls.
This victory is the product of collective effort. The dedication and resilience displayed by members of the Campaign Council and our numerous supporters across the state were truly inspiring. They stood firmly behind our message of continuity, progress and shared prosperity, and the people responded overwhelmingly.
While thanking INEC, security agencies and election officials for their roles in the conduct of the election, I urge all political actors to embrace the outcome of the poll in the interest of peace, unity and the continued development of Ekiti State.
I assure the people of Ekiti State and all well-wishers that Governor Oyebanji will remain committed to delivering greater dividends of democracy and building on the impressive achievements recorded during his first term in office.
As we celebrate this well-deserved victory, we do so with a deep sense of gratitude and responsibility. The renewed mandate given to Governor Oyebanji is a call to greater service, and I have no doubt that he will continue to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people.
I congratulate Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, his deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Christianah Afuye, members of the APC and the entire people of Ekiti State on this historic and landmark victory for democracy, good governance and the continued progress of our dear State.
