Woman in hot soup, charged over an alleged N7.2m fraud in Ekiti

A 39-year-old woman, Adeola Olowo, has been arraigned at the Chief Magistrate court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged fraud.

ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants and others at large between January and March 2026 at Ado-Ekiti within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District, did fraudulently obtain the sum of N7, 231, 200:00 from Tolani Lawal.

ASP Oriyomi said the defendant under false pretence of supplying the woman 3 deep freezers, create of eggs, food stuff and livestock.

The prosecutor noted that the defendants committed an offence contrary to Section 328 and punishable under Section 329 (3) of the Criminal Laws of EKiti State 2021.

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant his client bail, that she will not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until August 10, 2026 for hearing.
