A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Engr. Kayode Ojo has declared that Ekiti people will forever be indebted to those who fought for the actualization of the creation of the State.
In a statement made available to media men in Ado-Ekiti, Kayode Ojo, a 2026 governorship aspirant in the State made the declaration in a goodwill message on the 30th anniversary of the creation of Ekiti State and Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day anniversary.
“We owe all our founding fathers, both the dead and the living, unquantifiable debts of appreciation for their sacrifices, foresight, hard work, commitment and doggedness in ensuring the creation of the State from the old Ondo State.
“The development has no doubt classified Ekiti people as one formidable entity as against a former appendage status under Ondo State. The creation of Ekiti State on October 1, 1996, has brought out our uniqueness and cultural value as a people with one background of impeccable character who believe in hard work, integrity, sincerity and education.
“Though, it remains a common knowledge that there are still challenges of underdevelopment confronting the State, stressing that past and present administrations in Ekiti must be commended for sustaining some legacies of its founding fathers, especially on peaceful coexistence amongst the people of the State.
“It is on this note that all Ekiti indigenes must continue to join hands together to fast-track industrialisation and even development across the State, with a burden of responsibility on the government to always bring everyone on board to contribute their quota to the development of the State.
“On Nigeria at 66, I congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, all Nigerians and especially Ekiti people on the nation’s 66th Independence Day celebration.”
The politician also commended both past and present Nigerian leaders for their sacrifices in keeping the nation together in spite of numerous agitations and challenges.
He, however, called for more support, prayers and sacrifices from all Nigerians to ensure the success of the Administration of President Tinubu in its determination to redirect the nation on the path of posterity and abundance for the good of all.
“There is no doubt that Nigeria is on the right track since the emergence of President Tinubu, hence the need for all citizens to exercise patience and support the President to turn around the nation’s economy in order to bring about rapid development across the country,” he said.
