The Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN), Ekiti State Branch, has called on members of the Public to go for regular medical check-up at accredited health facilities, including any of the general hospitals, specialist hospitals and the four (4) tertiary hospitals located in Ado Ekiti, Ido Ekiti and Ikole Ekiti, Ekiti State.
According to the Public Health Physicians, this would help to identify early and prevent complications from conditions like hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Kidney Disease and Liver Disease, saying this is geared towards reducing the occurrence of sudden and avoidable deaths in the society.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Adebowale Femi Akinwumi and the PRO, Dr. Famous Adeyemi, the Association also urge members of the Public to take vaccines against vaccine-preventable diseases such as Covid 19, Yellow fever, Hepatitis, Meningitis and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) which are readily available at the Primary Health Centres across the State.
The APHPN Ekiti State Branch, expressed her total support for the ‘Project 10 Million’ of government, aimed at screening Nigerians for Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus for free across the nation, from Monday October 28 to Saturday November 2, 2024.
