In our Family it’s traditional norms in the family to dedicate and sacrifice our first female child for rituals as a tradition. On
28th February 2021 about 5 of us rose up to demand for our ritual rites from our son OGUNBIYI Benedict Aderopo, getting to his house we meet only his wife who later cause a lot of casualties with the members of the family all because we were asking for our ritual right which has been the traditional setting of the family from generations to generations ,our son wife started throwing stones at us which later broke her car windscreen ,when her husband returned from work she reported the whole story to him and instead of our son to call us he ran to the police station to get us arrested and we were bailed by the family lawyer.

Ogunbiyi Benedict can’t denied how first female daughter are been dedicated or sacrificed ritually. Since 2021 the couple has run away from the country to abroad in which has deprived us of of our various rights and by this the gods are angry and this is why we mounted pressure on the couple time to time to produce us their daughters of their choice for the ritual even if not the first female and every effort to get them proof abortive.

We expected them to return home during our son grandmother burial ceremony in January but all to no avail, then last week we got an information from a family that our son in-law is coming home to pay the family a condolences visit which prompted us to challenge the in-laws on the need to help us beg their daughter to release what belongs to us, we went to them humbly and not by violence but our son Ogunbiyi Benedict brother in-law was the first to attack us and threatening hard to arm us if we didn’t vacate the environment within 20 seconds which also made us to retaliate, then our boys injured our son brother in-law and mother in-law in the process and this issues got escalated to the appropriate authorities and before we know it we were arrested, we are not kidnappers, terrorists or bandits but see the way our own son maltreated us as a criminal just because we demand for our rights according to the traditions of our family.

We are using the medium to beg the authorities concerns to please do the proper investigation before prosecuting us and we are using this medium to appeal to our amiable governor His excellency Biodun Oyebanji to come to our rescue because we have been cheated and humiliated

As at the time of filling this reports and after our investigations, some members of the family in Emure-Ekiti insisted that their first female child, Ogunbiyi Cherish Omotara, aged 5 as at 2021, be taken away for pre- traditional rituals,,that is the small ritual performed before the girls attain the age of 7 years believed to be customary in the lineage.

Mrs. Ogunbiyi’s and her car that was attacked and vandalized was also reported as a result of one on one family confrontations after she declined the plan to take the child away for the ritual in the year 2021

The family alleged that the traditional belief in the husband’s lineage requires the first female child to be sacrificed for spiritual rites, a practice they claimed often leaves the child mentally okay or disable but not the way the wife assumed thereafter

They told us that it has been the way their ancestors demanded it and that any family that refused would face its calamity

A resident witness Mr Peter Ayodele who spoke to the reporter said the situation also got escalated when the family resisted sacrificing the child in the year 2021

“There were several arguments and physical confrontations the witness said.

According to our own reports
On the 13th March 2026, Mr Ogunbiyi’s mother in-law and brother in-laws whose names were not ascertained were attacked, brutalised, beaten to stupors ,wounded by some thugs in the family and were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for adequate treatment during their condolences visit to Emure to sympathize with the family on the demise of Mr ogunbiyi grandmother a weeks after the mother in-law arrived Nigeria from Canada was also investigated and this is why some of the family elders were arrested for prosecution and about to be charge to court through the Nigeria police force

“The people of residence who also stood as eyewitnesses confirmed to us that the child belonged to the tradition of the family and that must not change

The matter was reported to the police after the assaults on both in-laws and the police source confirmed against us that a complaint involving threats, intimidation and alleged ritual demands was filed at a divisional station in Ekiti State.

“The case was reported to the police, and statements were taken from the affected individuals. The Police report confirmed the incident and the planned rituals

“The family expressed fears of the name of the family not to go in the mud and they expressed their fear going to the prison for fighting for their own right and tradition and implored the authorities concerned to tamper mercy and look into the matters for the both parties involved
