The management of the Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti (ABUAD) has dismissed alleged bandits attack on the University, describing the social media report as fake, malicious and misleading.
This was contained in a statement by the Director, Corporate Affairs of the institution, Mr Tunde Olofintila.
He said that the security of the students of ABUAD have always remained a priority l, which is why security is put on the front burner of activities.
His words:
“Our attention has been drawn to the spurious, malicious and misleading publication making its rounds particularly in the social media about the mischievous claims of bandit attacks on our university, Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, ABUAD.
“Our first reaction was that we should not dignify the purveyors of the baseless story with a response. However, due to the international reputation of the 16-year-old university and particularly to put the minds of our dear parents, students, admirers and well-wishers at rest in these challenging times, we have decided to respond by stating as follows:
“Since the university commenced Academic works on its permanent site in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, January 4, 2010, the security of our students has been our utmost priority. That is the reason why we have always put the issue of security on the front burner of our activities. Since then, we have not relented on this critically important issue.
“We hereby assure our parents and indeed all stakeholders that we are up to the task. This is why we have our specially designed security architecture in place. That is why we have our security personnel patrolling our University campus day and night.
“The entire university is calm and peaceful with everyone going about his lawful duties without let or hindrance.
“Our Second Semester Examination is on-going. By the grace of God, after the examinations, our students will leave for their respective homes in peace and harmony to the warm embrace of their parents and guardians after another successful Academic Session.
“We have been protecting and will continue to protect the interest of our parents, students and other stakeholders in our concerted efforts to ensure the highest level of security and peaceful existence on our campus.”
