The College of Social & Management Sciences (CSMS), Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), has formally flagged off the 2026/2027 Academic session with a Special College Resumption Prayer Meeting and the presentation of Laptop Computers to all Heads of Department and the Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies in the College.
The event which took place on Thursday, August 27, 2026, marked another significant milestone by the College as it has become the first College in the entire University to independently source for and provide laptops for all its 12 Heads of Department and the Postgraduate Coordinator, in furtherance of improved academic administration, efficiency and digital productivity.
The laptops were donated by altruistic Alumni of the College as part of their own way of giving back to the College, and by extension, the 16-year-old university, which has moulded and mentored them. The most interesting part of the selfless donation of Laptops by the Alumni is that they have elected to remain anonymous.
Speaking at the event, the 7th Provost of the College, Prof. Adéyẹmí Adeyinka Ademọwọ, said the provision of the laptops represents more than the distribution of equipment, but it also amounts to an investment in more responsive leadership and effective academic administration.
Other Provosts before Ademowo were Prof. Yekini Olawaye Lawal (the pioneer Provost of the College, who is also the pioneer Director of Academic Planning, pioneer Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Academic), and currently the Director of Quality Assurance), Prof. Alawiye-Adams, Prof. Adeolu Durotoye, Prof. Bisi Borisade, Prof. Ademola Azeez, and Prof. Christopher Olayinka Aina, the current Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic
Ademowo expressed immense joy that all the Heads of Department in the College and Postgraduate Coordinator now have dedicated gadgets to support their work.
His words: “We deeply appreciate the Alumni who made this possible and chose to remain anonymous. I also thank all staff of the College, both Academic and Non-Academic, for their unalloyed cooperation and support”.
Like the proverbial Oliver Twist, Ademowo called for even greater collective effort in repositioning CSMS.
Driving his point home, he added: “I sincerely love and appreciate all of you. Let us do more”.
He expressed profound appreciation to the Founder & Chancellor of the University, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, OFR, CON, whose vision and enduring commitment to excellence continue to provide the enabling environment for innovation and institutional growth within the University.
He was full of effusive praises for the Founder’s amiable and affable wife and Chief Executive Officer of ABUAD Ventures, Yeye Aare Modupe Babalola, for her motherly support and continued goodwill towards the University community.
Ademọwọ equally acknowledged and thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Smaranda Olarinde, for her sterling leadership, encouragement and unbending institutional support that continue to inspire the totality of the university in the pursuit of noble initiatives capable of strengthening teaching, research and administration.
He further expressed gratitude to the University leadership, particularly the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Administration), Prof. Supo Ijabadeniyi, and Prof. Aina, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, (Academic), Elders of the College, Professors and colleagues for their sustained support, noting that the provision of the laptops was made possible through a collective culture of goodwill and commitment to the progress of CSMS.
He thanked the pioneer Provost of the College, Prof. Yekini Olawaiye Lawal, who he described as his father and leader, for honouring the event despite its impromptu nature.
