From Ademola Deji
The Founder and Chancellor of the Afe Babalola University Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Chief Afe Babalola on Wednesday said the ABUAD Multi-System Hospital (AMSH) is establishing the Fertility Centre to provide both medical and emotional solution for couples longing to experience the joy of parenthood.
He said that generally among animals, there is that instinct for human beings to reproduce themselves, saying that infertility could often make couples feel isolated and hopeless which is why the Multi-System Hospital is ready to provide succor for them.
The legal icon who stated this yesterday during the commissioning of the AMSH Fertility Centre located within the Multi-System Hospital, said that he has sympathy for childless people because it’s the wish of humans to reproduce.
“We are marching forward and this time we are tackling childlessness. Who does not want to produce a child? You work and have property; you don’t want to leave it for those who have not worked for it. This is probably one of the reasons why people want to have children.
“I have sympathy for those in that condition. I love my children, what we are doing today is a big one for those who are crying and who are going to herbalists for a solution, this is a scientific way of solving that childlessness. What we are doing today is another big step forward.
“People think wrongly that ABUAD is very expensive. That is not true. I didn’t establish ABUAD to make money. I keep on asking God why me? If I see the number of students, the number of applications, the number of students outside Nigeria including white men attending classes here. I say why me.
“Some people run this university down by asking people not to come here because our fees are in Dollars. We are not for profit; we want to make people believe that Nigerians can make it.”
In his welcome address, the Chief Medical Director of the Multi-System Hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe, siad that the stigma and emotional burden associated with infertility could often make couples feel isolated and hopeless.
“However, with advancements in medical technology and a supportive environment like the AMSH Fertility Centre, there is now a renewed sense of hope for those in need. This Centre is a testament to our commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of our community and beyond.
“To all couples who are struggling with infertility, we extend a heartfelt invitation to explore the services available at the AMSH Fertility Centre. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way, offering personalized care, emotional support and cutting-edge medical solutions.”
