A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has showered encomiums on the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for prudently channeling the state’s resources toward actualising the vision behind the conceptualisation of the Ekiti State International Cargo Airport.

Bamisile, a former Speaker, in the same fashion, commended former Governors Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi, for sustaining the vision, leading to the completion of the transportation facility, not only to make the state more accessible, but to market Ekiti to the outside world .

Bamisile gave the commendations in a statement released through his Media Office, in Abuja, on Thursday.

Bamisile said the commencement of the commercial flight full throttle by the airport on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, was a well amplified evidence that the mission behind the flagship project, had been fully accomplished.

The federal parliamentarian feared that the project would have been aborted, if successive administrations had played morbid politics with its execution.

Bamisile praised a Legal Icon and University proprietor, Aare Afe Babalola(SAN), for its unquantifiable and resilient support, culminating in the actualisation of the project that remains a flagship and cynosure in facility provision in the state.

He saluted the incumbent Governor and his predecessors for perceiving the project as a mandate that must be fulfilled, for Ekiti to savour economic prosperity, rather than playing politics that could thwart the high flying dream.

“What we witnessed in Ekiti State with the full accomplishment of the airport was inspirational and confirmed the spirit of homogeneity amongst us, in spite of political differences.

“From the account rendered by the parties involved at the ceremony marking the commencement of commercial flight, former governor Segun Oni conceived the vision. Dr Ayodele Fayose procured the land and paid part of the compensations to land owners even up to clearing. Dr Kayode Fayemi built the project to a certain level, while the incumbent completed it to a level that commercial flight could take off.

“This exhilarating synopsis elevated the spirit of development in our leaders and it is commendable. It means all our leaders prioritised Ekiti over and above partisanship and emotional attachments.

“This is the spirit that must continue to guide us. We shouldn’t allow partisan politics to erode the foundation upon which Ekiti was founded. With unity and togetherness, we can match up any state in Nigeria with our meagre resources.

“The fact that Ekiti State expended over N49 billion to build the project to this level showed that there is nothing we can’t achieve with collective resolve to make it happens”, he said.
