Breaking: Many feared dead as fuel laden tanker explodes

Scores of unidentified persons were feared killed, with many others sustaining various degrees of injuries following a massive explosion which occurred around the Karu bridge on the Abuja-Keffi expressway at Iyanyan, one FCT satellite towns.

The Fuel laden tanker was said to have burst into flames and caught several vehicles within some radius.

The incident happened during the rush hours as commuters were retuning from work and other daily activities.

Several explosion followed the first burst of fire causing serious panic.

It was gathered that emergency responders were on hand to offer rescue services.

Personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies were also reportedly at the scene, working to contain the situation.

Eye witnesses account confirmed that the incident caused severe gridlock along the axis, forcing many commuters to abandon their vehicles.

As at the time of filing this report, there was total gridlock on both lanes which halted vehicles movement.
