The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded plan to use court to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) to include its Ekiti State governorship candidate, Dr Wole Oluyede in the list of parties’ candidates ahead of the Ekiti 2026 governorship election.
Recall that the INEC on Monday published the list of candidates from 12 political parties contesting for the state’s top job at its office in Ado Ekiti and excluded the candidate of the PDP.
Reacting to the development in Abuja, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong said that the party will approach the court to compel the INEC to do the right thing.
“We are approaching the court to compel INEC to do the right thing, as there is no lawful reason to exclude our candidate from the list. We are determined to protect the choice and voice of Ekiti voters.”
Ememobong said the INEC has no lawful reason to exclude our candidate and must be compelled to respect the will of Ekiti voters.
According to the PDP, “INEC attended and monitored PDP’s Governorship Primary in Ekiti for the 2026 Election.
“The primary was conducted freely and fairly, adhering strictly to all relevant laws.
“Despite validly nominating a candidate, INEC refused to publish our candidate’s name on the list of candidates.”
