Ekiti announces Thursday as mid-term break

Ekiti State Government has announced Thursday 20th February and Friday 21st February as mid-term break for public and private schools in the State.
According to a statement by the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. (Mrs) Olabimpe Aderiye, the break is in line with the school calendar for the second term of 2024/2025 academic session.
Dr. Aderiye said that pupils and teachers are expected back in school on Monday, 24th February, 2025.
She added that Cultural Day has been approved to hold in Ekiti State on Tuesday 25th, February 2025.

Ekiti State Government Seals Off Public Toilet, Sanctions Company Over Environmental Health and Sanitation Law Violations.
The Ekiti State Government has sealed up  a privately operated public toilet and a private sewage company  in the State for violating the State Environmental Health and Sanitation laws.
A statement from the State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti said
Environmental Health Officers from the Ministry during a daily routine sanitary inspection
caught a  privately operated public toilet in the Atikankan area of the State Capital discharging faecal waste into a  public drainage, thus posing a serious health to the people of the area.
The public toilet, allegedly operated by one  Mr. Mallam Wudili, was immediately sealed off by the Ministry to prevent further environmental pollution and possible outbreak of epidemic in the area.
In a related development, the owner of a sewage disposal company identified as Mr. Packer was apprehended by a team of Environmental Health Officers from the Ministry to have illegally discharged faecal waste at a location Opposite Ajayi Polytechnic, Ado/Ikere Road , an act capable of causing grave public health hazard.
In her reaction , the State Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Erelu Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, condemned the incidents, stressing that the government would not tolerate any actions that endanger public health and environmental safety.
“These reckless acts of environmental pollution will not go unpunished. The government is committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for all residents,” she stated.
She warned individuals and business owners to comply with Environmental Health and Sanitation Law of Ekiti State, emphasizing that offenders would face strict penalties in accordance with the state’s Environmental Health and Sanitation Law.
The Ministry  assured the public of continued monitoring and enforcement to prevent future occurrences, urging residents to report any environmental violations to the appropriate authorities.

*EKITI GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES 50% SUBSIDY ON TRACTORIZATION FOR FARMERS*
Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has announced 50% subsidy by the State Government on ploughing, harrowing and ridging of farmland for farmers in the State towards this year’s farming season.
A statement by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr Ebenezer Boluwade made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti noted that farmers in the State will pay a sum of N40,000 to plough one hectare of land instead of N80,000 normal market rate this planting season ;N30,000 naira for harrowing per hectare instead of N60,000 and N30,000 naira for ridging per hectare instead of N60,000
Boluwade however gave terms and conditions to be met by farmers interested in the subsidized tractorization programme which include : the cultivation of a minimum of five hectares of land by the intending farmer, confirmation by the Ministry’s engineers that the farm lands have not been tractorized within the last 12 months and that payment of  50% fees  by the farmers will only be done after confirmation that the land is suitable for tractorization.
He stressed that mechanization service providers  have 48 hours to mobilize to the site after the payment has been made.
The Commissioner urged Interested farmers in Ekiti South Senatorial District to call 0706-468-7989 or 0803-487-9106 adding that those in Ekiti Central District are to contact 0806-8497008 or 0806-232-5044 while farmers in Ekiti North are expected to call 0803-565-6550 or 0803-489-2651.
