Ekiti High Court judges to proceed on annual vacation August 10

Judges of the Ekiti State High Court will embark on their annual vacation from Monday, August 10, 2026 to Friday, September 18, 2026, the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, has announced.

In a vacation notice issued in line with Order 45 Rule 4(d) of the Ekiti State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2020, Justice Ogunmoye said the vacation is part of the judiciary’s annual calendar to allow judges to rest and prepare for the new legal year.

Despite the vacation, the Chief Judge clarified that the courts will remain open throughout the period.

According to the notice, criminal matters and urgent civil applications will be attended to during the vacation. Civil cases may also be heard, but only with the express permission of the vacation judge and upon joint application by both parties or their counsel.

“All courts in the state will remain open and operational throughout the vacation period,” the statement added.

The Chief Judge further disclosed that the 2026/2027 Legal Year will formally commence on Monday, September 21, 2026.

Members of the public, litigants and legal practitioners have been advised to take note of the arrangement and to file urgent matters accordingly during the vacation period.
