Ekiti State Police to impound vehicles without third-party insurance,  commences enforcement

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, has ordered the immediate commencement of the full enforcement of the mandatory Third-Party Insurance Policy for motor vehicles.

A statement from the command spokesman, SP Abutu Sunday, said it is in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP KAYODE ADEOLU EGBETOKUN,

“The Commissioner enjoins all vehicle owners to ensure they comply with this directive as the Third-Party Insurance will promote road safety, provides protection for road users against liabilities arising from accidents which involve insured vehicles amongst other benefits. Vehicles without the Third-Party Insurance will be impounded and owners penalized in accordance with the law.

“The Commissioner, while addressing the Officers charged with the enforcement responsibility across the State yesterday being 1st February,2025, tasked them to be professional, respect the rights of citizens while firmly discharging their duty.”
