There was outpouring of ecomioum and good testimonials on Thursday 2, May 2024, when Mr Adedayo Ajobiewe, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government Affairs, retired from office after spending 35 years in the service.

The event was organised by the staff of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs to celebrate Ajobiewe meritorious service with pomp and pageantry.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Chief Folorunso Olabode expressed gratitude to Ajobiewe for distinguishing himself in his career, saying that he would be sorely missed.

He said:

“It has been a wonderful time working with you. You are the fifth permanent secretary to have worked with me and they have all retired from the service. I think it is a rare opportunity and honour working with you.

“Like what the Governor said yesterday that if it was possible to extend your service, he would gladly do so, because you have been a wonderful person. I will miss you greatly, but I pray that I get someone like you as your replacement.

“The governor said that whatever he is today, you contributed immensely to it. When you are Permanent Secretary Cabinet office, we never had issues in the exco. When I learnt you will be coming here, I said thank God.

“Thank you for tolerating my excesses. As you are going on retirement, God will be with you. You are conscious and diligent to a fault.

“The Governor said that you are only going temporarily, that he will still need your service. I know you will come back in a bigger form. When Mr Governor says something he meant it. So I know you are only going for a while.”

Several speakers at the event gave good testimonies and eulogies about the character and personality of Ajobiewe, as they wish him well in his future endeavours.
