FUOYE denies online news media reports accusing Pro-Chancellor, VC Fasina of manipulating recruitment of directors, others
From Kayemo News
The management of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) has dismissed reports trending on Sahara Reporters, accusing the duo of Pro-Chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, and the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina of “manipulating recruitment and bending rules to favour loyalists,
A statement by the Public Relation Officer of the institution, Mr Foluso Ogunmodede described the report as another lie from the online news media, saying the duo had no role to play in the appointments of directors, Deans, Professors and the procurement officer of the university except otherwise brought before the Council.
“Contrary to another lies in a trending report by Sahara Reporters, accusing the duo of Pro-Chancellor of Federal University Oye Ekiti, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, and the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina of “manipulating recruitment and bending rules to favour loyalists,” the duo had no role to play in the appointments of directors, Deans, Professors and the procurement officer of the university except otherwise brought before the Council.
“Instead, the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, being the Chairman of Council and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fasina, who’s on his accumulated leave in the United States of America played no roles in the appointments, as the recent appointments made was the exclusive preserve of the university management being led by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu.
“Also, to set the record straight: the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina was never suspended but proceeded on accumulated six months leave which ends in October.
“Nevertheless, in the characteristics manner of being a purveyor of misinformation, the Sahara Reporters has goofed again when it accused the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council Federal University Oye Ekiti of “manipulating Vice-Chancellor’s eligibility rules, unilaterally orchestrating a change in the eligibility criteria for Vice-Chancellor, increasing the required years of professorship from eight years to 10 years.”
“This is another grievous lies from the pit of hell especially as the Sahara Reporters had not seen anything good and favourable about FUOYE.”
Continuing, Ogunmodede said: “If it’s not in the culture of Sahara Reporters to brazenly spread lies about FUOYE and its officers, Sahara Reporters would have known that criteria for eligibility for Vice-Chancellor was set by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, who approved a policy establishing eligibility criteria for the appointment of Vice-Chancellors in order to promote equity, transparency and integrity in the selection process.
“This had nothing to do with the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council Federal University Oye Ekiti, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba.”
Dr. Alausa had said “the policy became necessary following a pattern of undue advantage observed over the years, where officers serving in acting capacities often leveraged their positions to influence appointment outcomes.
“These officers also compromise the fairness and transparency of the selection process.
“The policy is necessary to eliminate this practice, ensure a level playing field for all qualified candidates, and strengthen institutional governance.
“However, in the interest of fairness, such officers may choose to recuse themselves from their acting positions before the expiration of their non-renewable six-month tenure, thereby becoming eligible to apply for the substantive roles.”
Is the Pro-Chancellor the Minister of Education, who made the policy? No, as the Sahara Reporters has told brazen lies as true to type always.
This is the Sahara Reporters pattern of lies just to blackmail FUOYE and its Pro-Chancellor in its attempt to misleading the public.
However, Sahara Reporters in attempt to also twist sacred facts and make it look real, accused the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fasina of “compiling a preferred list of candidates for the positions including directors, Deans, Professors and the procurement officer in violation of the FUOYE Establishment Act (2015).”
This is a cheap blackmail and an attempt to bring into disrepute the hard earned good name of both the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor, who had no inputs in who became directors, Deans, Professors and the procurement officer as this was the exclusive preserve of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu-led management
Pro-Chancellor and especially the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Fasina whose leave expires in October had no idea of what transpired in the appointment of the directors and others.
Instead, the Pro-Chancellor, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN would prefer to allow the matter brought before the Council in case there were infractions, compelling the Council under his watch to interfere in the management decisions except otherwise brought before the Council for ratification or otherwise.
