Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo has urged the people of Iyamoye in Ijumu Local government area of the state to always be proud of their culture and tradition which he said was passed down from generation to generation which define their society.
Governor Ododo stated this at Iyamoye Day 2024 where Alhaji Abdulrauf Danusman was given an award of recognition for his service to humanity.
The governor who was represented at the occasion by a senior government official, Barrister Zakari Abbass Abbas , described the awardee as a worthy individual who has helped humanity with what God has bestowed on him. The governor said that Kogi state is very lucky to have somebody like him.
He urged the people not to forget their culture and tradition. He said that his administration would give the people dividend of democracy urging the people to give his government maximum support.
Governor Ododo said that his government is investing in massive infrastructure across the state to support the developmental plans. He urged the people to be security conscious, saying that security is the business of everybody.
In his response, Alhji Danusman expressed gratitude to the people and the traditional ruler of Iyamoye for finding him worthy to be given an award of recognition. He also lauded the governor for finding time to grace the occasion.
He said that he will always cherish the award of recognition and would remain a good ambassador of the community wherever he found himself.
He urged the people of the community to always remember home, saying that many people tend to forget their source once they have achieved success. “They despise their place of birth for no justifiable reason. However at their demise they will remember to bring his corpse home for burial.”
