The Great Ife Alumni Association Omuo Ekiti chapter has been Inaugurated by the Global President. Barr, Leye Bunmi Falade and his team.
The event took place at Iworo Township Hall, Omuo Ekiti on Monday 29/12/2026.
In his address, Barrister Falade solicited for the active participation of all Alumni members from Omuo Ekiti and it’s environs so that the branch could be a force to be reckoned with.
He assured members that they would derived a lot of benefits from their membership of the Great Ife Alumni Association, such as admission for their children and accommodation, among others.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Vice President (South West) Dr Olumuyiwa stressed the importance of extending the frontiers of the Great Ife Alumni Association to every corner of the globe, where graduates of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (formerly the University Ife) can be found.
“We want to continually recreate the excellent atmosphere where our young minds were trained in our undergraduate days by giving back to the institution that made us.
“The stark reality of today’s Nigeria is that the Federal Government can no longer single-handedly shoulder the tosponsibilities of sustaining the university. Therefore, if the alumni do not create a platform like this to complement the input of the government, the facilities and the culture will soon become a lost part of our history.
“Beyond giving back to our university, the Great Ife Alumni Association has carved a niche for itself as a rich network of the best minds in the best positions across the globe.”
Earlier in his welcome address, pledged to pilot a virile alumni association that would soon be breaking developmental grounds.
“As the pioneer executives that will steer the ship of the association for the next couple of years, We shall soon make known to the whole house what we intend to do with the mandate so graciously given to us.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that Omuo has suffered the ignominy of being in the backwaters by all indices of developments within Ekiti and we are poised to make our contributions.”
Lauding the efforts of the global alumni association to see the birth of Omuo Ekiti chapter, Dr Bakare said: “We are bringing you to omuo the second time in less than ten months. You have stood us in good stead sir. We shall very soon be hosting you in omuo again to witness the foundation laying ceremony of our Great Ife Alumni Secretariat.”
In his good will message, Asiwaju Wole Adewumi noted the yearnings and dedication of the young Turks who deemed it fit to nurse into fruition, the idea of having a chapter of the Alumni of the Great Ife in Omuo.
“I therefore, thank you sincerely for counting me worthy of being invited to present a goodwill message at this December occasion!”
Also speaking DCM promise to continue to raise the bar of the young association, saying that the Great Ife Alumni Association Omuo Ekiti would continue to grow.
Also speaking, Pa Jimmy Ajobiewe called for membership drive and urged members to always avoid lateness.
He expressed his wish that the Great Ife Alumni Association Omuo Ekiti would have a project commissioned at OAU Ife in his life time.
