An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court has sentenced a 33-year-old man, Ige Tunji Bola, to two months’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing cooking pots from an elderly woman.
Chief Magistrate Bankole Oluwasanmi delivered the ruling after the suspect pleaded guilty to the crime.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, told the court that on July 31 at approximately 6.30pm, the man stole cooking pots valued at N100,000 from Adeniji Temiyemi in Ilawe-Ekiti.
Inspector Adejare said the offense is punishable under Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Counsel for the convict, Barrister Joy Raphael, had previously urged the court to grant her client bail on liberal terms.{Daily Trust}
