A Chief Magistrate court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of one Solomon Sunday (18) at the Correctional Centre over the alleged rape of a 2-year-old child.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, informed the court that there was probable cause to order the remand of the defendant.
He said the defendant was reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of rape on the victim, an act punishable under Section 31 of the Child Rights Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He said the alleged offence occurred within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District on August 24, 2025.
Inspector Bankole urged the court to grant his remand request, adding that the duplicate file had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adefunke Anoma, ordered the defendant be remanded in correctional custody until October 14 when the case is slated for mention. {Daily Trust}
