It was a day of royal pomp, academic pride, and renewed hope on the campus of Ekiti State University, Otun-Ekiti Campus as His Royal Majesty, Oba Adekunle Adeayo Adeagbo, The Oore of Otun Ekiti and Paramount Ruler of Mobaland, joined the 2026 set of matriculated students to celebrate the beginning of their academic journey.
The event, held at the campus auditorium, was filled with joy as fresh students in their matriculation gowns received royal blessings and words of wisdom from their monarch and the university management.
Just like a King who keeps his word, the highlight of the celebration was the fulfillment of a royal promise.The Oore, known for his passion for education and youth development, announced a donation of $1,000 toward the $100,000 fund-raising target for the proposed Amphitheatre Lecture Center at the Otun-Ekiti Campus.
Presenting the donation, Oba Adeagbo said the amphitheatre would provide a befitting learning environment for students and further position the campus as a center of excellence.
“Education is the greatest legacy we can give to our children. A kingdom that invests in education invests in its future. This is why I made this promise and today I am fulfilling it,” the monarch declared to a loud ovation from students and guests.
“I call on sons and daughters of Mobaland, Ekiti indigenes, and well-meaning Nigerians to support this project so our children can learn in comfort and compete globally.”
Dignitaries present at the suspicious occasion included the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof Joseph Babatola Ayodele and his management team.
In his address at the event, the VC commended the Oore for his consistent support for education and for being a bridge between the community and the university.
“Kabiyesi, your presence and donation today show that you are not just a royal father, but a father of education,”the VC said.
“The Amphitheatre Lecture Center will serve thousands of students for generations. We are grateful.”
Other dignitaries, traditional chiefs, community leaders, parents, and the 2026 matriculants were also in attendance.
