Pastor Adeboye, Alakija, two others bag EKSU honorary Doctorate award  ….As varsity sacks 9 staff,  expel 12 students over misconduct

The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University (EKSU), Professor Edward Olanipekun, has said that the institution would confer honorary Doctorate award on General Overseer of the Redeem Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, former governor Adeniyi Adebayo,  Prince Julius Adeluyi, and the richest African woman, Princess Folorunsho Alakija at its 28th Convocation ceremony.
This was just as he disclosed that nine staff of the university involved in various acts of misconduct, have been dismissed, adding that, 10 appointments were terminated, while 5 persons each were warned and pardoned, just as 3 staff was suspended for various reasons.
The Vice Chancellor who stated this on Monday during a press conference to herald the 28th Convocation ceremony of EKSU, said a total of  91 graduates had  first class degrees, from  a total of 10,894 graduates, which includes 10,515 first degrees graduates, Ph.D 73, Masters 81, PGD 1.
Olanipekun added that 58 new medical doctors were inducted into the medical profession on February 8th this year by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN.
The VC who is leaving office in August, listed his achievements to include approval of 16  new academic programmes such as BSc Mass Communication, BSc International Relations, Ph.D Surgery,  Ph.D Medicine, among others.
Olanipekun commended the Federal Government for the various intervention funds released to the university such as TETFund and NEEDS Assessment funds which has been impactful in transforming the campus leading to the completion of 12 TETFund sponsored projects, 10 Needs Assessment sponsored projects among others.
On the conferment of the institutions’s will honorary doctorate degrees, he said that 4 distinguished personalities in the country including, Pastor Enoch Adeboye (Doctor of Science), Adeniyi Adebayo (Doctor of Law), Prince Julius Adeluyi (Doctor of Law) and Prince Folorunsho Alakija (Doctor of Business Administration).
The Vice Chancellor, commended the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for the tremendous support the institution had received from him, and for providing enabling environment for the EKSU development.
