Popularity, Not Abuses Against Oyebanji ‘II Determine Your Fate, Bamisile Tells Aspirants

A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has declared that propaganda on social media and barrage of attacks against the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji won’t determine the actual winner of the October 27, 2025 All Progressives Congress’ Governorship primary in the state.

The former Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, posited that credible accounts of performance, consistency in party politics, popularity and loyalty to the APC, will be the determining factors, rather than social media stunts and names calling.

The Representative of the Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, said this in a statement issued, by his Media Office in Abuja, on Tuesday.

Bamisile lamented how some aspirants decided to domicile their campaigns on social media, resorting to attacks against Governor Oyebanji, rather than marketing themselves to the party members.

He described the foregoing as antithetical to the internal workings of the APC as the ruling party and portraying the party as having unresolved internal crises.

The Federal Lawmaker boasted that Governor Oyebanji is in good stead to again clinch the party’s governorship ticket convincingly, based on the laid down parameters woven around performance in office, popularity among members and unshaken loyalty to the APC.

“Since the advent of democracy in 1999, Governor Oyebanji has always been a core progressive within the Alliance for Democracy, Action Congress, Action Congress of Nigeria and now the APC. He has always been consistent with progressive ideals.

“He has also succeeded in warming himself into the hearts of party members, by returning powers to them. His performance in office and popularity among the masses have also boosted the chances of APC in Ekiti. Looking at all these parameters, he is in a vantage position to clinch the ticket.

“At every opportunity, himself, the First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji and the Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, had gone round the state to market the governor to the party members and the imperative need of reelecting him into office and this had gained traction across the board.

“It is disturbing that other aspirants are not embarking on any campaign. They are on social media maligning the character of the governor. I haven’t seen any of them visiting the units and wards to market himself: this is antidemocratic.

“Let it be expressly stated that your popularity, consistency, performance and loyalty to APC, will determine your fate, not abuses against any personality”, Bamisile said.
