A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has appealed to Christians to pray at this crucial time against pervasive insecurity in the land, saying time has come for God to heal Nigeria of all its scary crises.
The former speaker, also challenged Ekiti residents to use the occasion of Christmas, which symbolises the birth of Jesus Christ, to pray for peaceful and violence free governorship election in 2026.
These were contained in a statement issued on Thursday, congratulating the Christians on the occasion of Christmas.
For Nigeria to be united , peaceful and develop as expected by the citizens, the Federal lawmaker, urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of love, sacrifices, honesty, togetherness, and live and let live spirit exhibited by Jesus Christ, whose birth is now being celebrated globally.
The APC leader warned that no nation can grow and develop under the atmosphere of hate, religious extremism, political upheavals and persistent cases of kidnapping, banditry and insurgency being witnessed across the board in the country.
“Because of the speciality of the Christmas and its spiritual phenomenon and significance, this is the time for the Christians to pray to God to intervene in our affairs and heal our land permanently from all these multifarious of crises.
“Enough of these kidnappings and killings. Enough of economic deprivation. Enough of corruption and pervasive neglect of our people and their sufferings in the midst of plenty.
“For us to accomplish these, we must imbibe the virtues of Christ. We must live together peacefully. We must shun material acquisition and we must pray for our leaders, so that all of us us can benefit the dividends of democracy”.
At the Ekiti home front, Bamisile stated that the 2026 governorship election is crucial to the survival of the State, urging the citizens to pray for seamless transition that will consolidate the gains being experienced under Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.
“Our people shouldn’t pray for peaceful election alone, they should pray for the victory of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, so that he can continue to lead us well”.
