It was a black independent anniversary in Edo State today following a fuel tanker fire inferno that roasted alive about 100 persons.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred at Benin-Sapele Road in Edo state, when fuel-laden tanker was reported to have fallen on the road by Ologbo community.
Ologbo is the boundary community between Edo and Delta states.
It was gathered that the fatal accident occurred when the driver of the tanker heading towards Benin lost control and fell on its side due to the deplorable condition of the road.
Sparks in the process ignited fire, which angrily raged, consuming everything in its course, including humans.
It was learnt that the victims were mainly stranded travellers.
Reports said that the fuel tanker accident in the afternoon of Sunday, October 1, was still raging as of the time of this report.
Also, as of the time of this report, the number of vehicles burnt had yet to be confirmed.
