The State Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ekiti State Chapter, Ambassador Segun Bankole, has appealed to the people of Ekiti State, especially youths, to remain calm, stay focused, and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating tension in the communities and university campuses.

Bankole was reacting to the recent viral alleged AI-generated video alleging a planned attack on Ekiti State University (EKSU) and Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI), in which the Ekiti State Police Command has thoroughly investigated and confirmed it to be fabricated with the sole intention of causing fear and panic among students and residents.

He said: “We appeal to the good people of Ekiti State—especially our vibrant youths—to remain calm, stay focused, and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating tension in our communities and campuses.

“The Police Command has assured the public that adequate security personnel have been deployed across the state, including border towns, schools, public and private infrastructure, and worship centres, to guarantee maximum safety.

“As the foremost youth body in the state, we align firmly with the reassurance given by the Ekiti State Government and security agencies that there is no cause for alarm, that Ekiti remains peaceful, and that the security architecture has been strengthened to protect all residents.

“We therefore call on our youths to:

1. Avoid circulating unverified or misleading information.

2. Remain vigilant and cooperate fully with security agencies.

3. Report any suspicious movement or person to the nearest police station or through the hotlines: 08062335577 / 09064050086

4. Promote peace, unity, and responsible citizenship across all communities.

“We commend the Ekiti State Police Command for its swift response and proactive measures. As youths, let us continue to support the government and security agencies in safeguarding our dear state from fear and misinformation.

“Together, we will continue to uphold Ekiti as a land of honour, peace, and collective progress,” he said.
