The Presidency has dismissed alleged removal of the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), affirming that Senator George Akume remains in his position.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described the reports of Akume’s replacement as false and the handiwork of mischief-makers.
Onanuga said that President Bola Tinubu, who is currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is entirely false and should be disregarded,” the statement read. “There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as SGF.”
Onanuga urged the public to disregard the fake news and remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation.
