A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has hailed Chief Afe Babalola(SAN) over favourable ranking of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, as 84th most flourishing university in the universe.
The former speaker posited that, Chief Babalola had succeeded in bringing honour to Africa and sent a signal that Nigeria is fast emerging as a world power in the area of education.
Bamisile gave the commendations, in a statement issued in Abuja by his Media office and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Sunday.
The thrilled federal parliamentarian spoke in view of the recent position of a global body under the acronym “Times Higher Education Impact”, which in its rating ranked ABUAD as 84th and 3rd in Africa in terms of research, academic performance and conducive ambience for learning.
Commenting on the feat achieved by ABUAD, Bamisile saluted Chief Babalola for making Ekiti regain its glory as academic hub and fortress of education of the Nigerian nation, by establishing the university in the state.
He said with this rating, Ekiti has again proven to be at the forefront of education in the country, as obtainable from a time that predated Nigeria’s independence.
The representative of Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, congratulated Chief Babalola and ABUAD management for again etching Nigeria’s name in gold and disabuse the minds of naysayers, who always taunted that nothing good can happen in the country.
Bamisile again added that the ranking further accentuated the fact that Nigerian universities can compete favourably with their counterparts abroad and in Africa continent.
“I am full of joy that this rating happended during Chief Afe Babalola’s lifetime. ABUAD being rated as number 84 university in the world was a big deal and something that was cheery.
“We could all attest that ABUAD since it began operations slightly over a decade ago had proven to be a veritable ground for quality and functional education.
“They offered both quality and functionality, meaning that their graduates can easily stay afloat and operate under a 21st century economy without encumbrance, because of the premium they placed on academic, entrepreneurship, research, sports and vocational studies.
“As I congratulate our father and visioner, the founder of the university, Chief Afe Babalola(SAN), the Governing Council, the Management and staff of the university, I want to say that the result of hardwork is more hardwork.
” They should collectively put in more hardwork and innovative thinking for them to achieve better rating in 2026 at the global scene”, Bamisile advised.
