The Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Hon Chris Agbeh has expressed the readiness of Ogoja Local Government Council to host Investors in the area particularly in the agricultural sub sector.
The Chairman disclosed this when he led the people of Ogoja to the ongoing Cross River State Trade Fair holding in Calabar, where he showcased the rich Agricultural Produce from his Local Government Area which he informed that the varieties yawn for investors to tap on commercial and exportable quantities.
He appealed to Investors to partner with Ogoja Local Government for the cultivation of Rice as the land accommodates both wet and dry seasons production, assuring that the Cross River State Ultra modern Rice Mill, Ogoja is capable of turning out thousands of tons per day as well as the high yield of Yams which could be processed into Yam Flour for local and international consumption.
Hon. Agbeh assured Investors of Ogoja Local Government conducive business climate, environmental friendliness, conviviality of the people, reasonable business turnover, peaceful atmosphere and optimal security of the area.
Receiving the Chairman, the Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce, Dr Abigail Orok who was overwhelmed and impressed with the physical participation of the Chairman of Ogoja Local Government said it was a clear indication of the Chairman’s preparedness to key into the people first Martra of Governor Otu’s as well as taking the people to the next level.
She observed that the presence of the Chairman, describes him as a proactive personality who is ready to encourage Value Addition which could transform the youths in the area to becoming Entrepreneurs, assuring that the Cross River State Microfinance Bank has sufficient funds for Small and Medium Scale enterprises (SME). She urged the youths of Ogoja to take deliberate advantage to access the facility to enable them engage in the Yam flour production.
Commenting on the importance of the Trade Fair, the President of the Ikom Chamber of Commerce, Mrs Flora Takim-Ndifon said that the exhibition came at the appropriate time as agriculture is a stake which has to be harnessed maximally. Mrs Takim-Ndifon intimated that registration in the Chamber was still open for Small and medium scale business which Ogoja is currently having Seven Beneficiaries.
In her remarks, the Leader of Ogoja Legislative council, Hon. (Dr) Elizabeth Mbim expressed optimism that Ogoja Local Government Council under the Leadership of Hon. Chris Agbeh was poised to aggressively pursue the Agricultural revolution trend for food sufficiency and food security, thereby urging Investors to take Ogoja as a base for success.
The high point of the occasion handled by the Head of Local Government Administration, Mrs Cecilia Ogah Ekunke, was the exhibition of products such as different species of highly nutritional valued Yams, vitaminize Rice, natural Palm Oil, Brooms for environmental sanitation, Palm wine for possible bottling, Soup condiments and spices such as Melon, Dry Okro, Dry Paw Paw, Ogbamo.
