Osun Decides : Adeleke, Oyebamiji in close race as INEC uploads 3,423 polling units results out of 3,763

As the results of the governorship election, trickle in with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, uploading results from 3,423 out of 3,763 polling units to its Result Viewing Portal, IReV, as of 8.42 pm.
The figure represents over 90% of total polling units in the state, leaving 662 polling units yet to be uploaded on the portal as seen by the Kayemo News.
Voters across the 30 local government areas and the Area Office turned out early on Saturday to elect a new governor to steer the affairs of the state for the next four years.
The exercise was largely peaceful, with heavy presence of security operatives at flashpoints.
As at press time, party agents, observers and journalists were monitoring the upload process on IReV while collation continued at the ward and local government levels ahead of the final collation at the INEC State Headquarters in Osogbo.
INEC had promised a real-time upload of polling unit results to deepen transparency and public confidence in the process.
The Commission deployed the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, for voter accreditation and electronic transmission of results from polling units.
The early upload figures showed significant progress compared to previous elections in the state, with urban centres and major LGAs accounting for the bulk of results already on the portal.
The candidate of the Accord party and incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke is on the lead as though closely followed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Oyebamiji and the African Democratic Congress ADC candidate Najeem Salam in distant third.
